Who
Tucows’ OpenSRS division powers web and email addresses for millions of businesses worldwide through its reseller network of web hosting companies and Internet service providers. Tucows introduced their now iconic 1950s era Serviceman mascot in 2008, and collaborated with Happy Worker to bring it to life as a designer vinyl action figure, which has become the must-have corporate collectible & desk toy at shows and meetings.
Why
Create an engaging tangible touch point for OpenSRS’s clients to be shared, passed around both in person and online, and proudly displayed on desks. Thank and delight new resellers with a welcome gift they’ll treasure. Support OpenSRS’s reseller friendly brand and marketing at the dozens of trade shows and events the company participates in annually around the globe.
What
The OpenSRS Service Guy character was brought to toy life as a custom designer vinyl action figure, along with supporting items rooted in the brand’s 1950s-era heritage and their clients in the IT industry. Together we created a suite of fun brand pieces including:
- Service Guy Vinyl Action Figure
- OpenSRS Notebook & Pencil set
- Welcome Kit: Service Guy Figure, Notebook and Pencil packaged together with buttons and stickers as a Welcome Kit for new resellers.
How
Tucows’ marketing team developed the strategy, their longtime artistic partner John Martz aka RobotJohnny created the illustrations and designs, and Happy Worker collaborated and handled sculpting, prototyping, production and logistics. The custom vinyl toys and other items were delivered to the largest industry event, HostingCon in Washington, DC, as well as various sales events and customer conferences in Europe and distribution centers in North America.
